Her friend Angela was killed in a traffic accident when she was age 15. Mitchell had a very difficult time with this incident, and Angela is the main reason behind Mitchell's track Angel on Mitchell's debut album. Mitchell wrote about her experience in the book Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul and the 7th Heaven episode Nothing Endures But Change.
